
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 20 YO Carltez ‘1040 Tez’ Hart, from Hammond, on one count of Second Degree Murder.
Hart is accused of shooting and killing 44 YO Telra Johnson on August 5, 2021.
Chief Jimmy Travis reports the incident took place around 3:30 p.m., outside of a residence on Baker Lane in Hammond. When deputies arrived at the scene they observed Johnson unresponsive lying in the roadway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Johnson later succumbed to his injuries.
During the course of the investigation Hart, a known ‘’1040’’ gang member who frequents the area of Baker Lane, was identified as the shooter. The gang’s name “1040” comes from the state highway number relative to Old Baton Rouge Highway.
Hart was located and taken into custody earlier this week.
