Children’s Hospital New Orleans says they have experienced a surge of pediatric COVID-19 cases unlike anything they have seen before.
At the request of the state of Louisiana, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has deployed a team of medical professionals from its National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) to the hospital to help their team care for children hospitalized with COVID-19.
The federal team includes physicians, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists from across the nation who have left behind their jobs and families to serve as extra support for Children’s Hospital for the next two weeks.
