
The Slidell Police Department’s Traffic Fatality Team is investigating a deadly head-on collision that claimed the life of a Slidell man early Monday morning.
Shortly after 4 a.m. on Monday (November 11, 2024), Slidell Police received reports of a head-on collision on the Highway 11 overpass between Indiana Avenue and North Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling northbound on the Highway 11 overpass when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed over the center dividing line, striking a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox head-on. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, identified as 47-year-old Farrell Pichon of Slidell was unrestrained at the time of the collision and received severe injuries as a result. Pichon was transported to a local area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Chevrolet Equinox was properly restrained at the time of the collision and received minor to moderate injuries. The passenger was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado was also unrestrained at the time of the collision and received minor injuries as a result.
Traffic Fatality Investigators were analyzing evidence and witness statements. The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado submitted to both standardized field sobriety and chemical testing as part of the investigation. Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the collision.
This crash remains under investigation.
