
A Mississippi woman has been arrested on multiple drug charges during a drug interdiction operation on Interstate 55 in the Kentwood area.
23 YO Amari Williams was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on August 26 for one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance.
On Monday, August 26, while Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Narcotics detectives were conducting proactive drug enforcement along I-55 in the Kentwood area, they observed a vehicle traveling slowly in the left lane, holding up traffic and showing evidence of distracted driving. Williams, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was pulled over in a traffic stop where detectives discovered more than 47 vacuum-sealed bags with 50 pounds of high-grade marijuana inside.
The drugs are estimated to be worth $75,000.
