Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer updated citizens on Day 5 of recovery and said as of yesterday they had served 17,000 hot meals from Fritchie Park since the tornado struck Slidell.
They also were giving out pantry supply boxes from the park.
Today in the park they will distribute tarps, water, ice, cleaning supplies and more pantry boxes. They will serve hot meals starting at 11:30 and again at 5 and they think Tuesday will be the last day for hot meals. Tuesday will also be the last day for relief distribution out of Fritchie Park. From there officials will be delivering into neighborhoods.
If you still have debris in your yard or on your house then make sure you are registered at the First Baptist Church. Mayor Cromer said they expect to have faith based work crews in the city to help for the next few weeks.
Debris removal will start on Thursday.
