
A shooting in St. Bernard Parish injured a teenager and has one man in custody facing numerous charges.
The St Bernard Sheriff’s Office said a 14 YO girl was shot and suffered a graze wound to the head.
The shooting happened in the 2300 block of Torres Drive.
The teenager was taken to an area hospital.
The suspect, 34 YO Justin Pritchard, barricaded himself inside his home and refused to come out or communicate with deputies. Family members said Prichard suffered from mental health issues. Pritchard was taken into custody shortly before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night after trying to escape through a window in the home.
Pritchard was booked on suspicion of attempted second degree murder, hate crimes, carrying a firearm near a firearm-free school zone, and illegal use of a weapon.
