In the past week, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Narcotics team has investigated four suspected overdose deaths, all linked to a pink powdery substance known on the streets as “pink cocaine” or “tusi.”
Found at each scene and during recent drug arrests, this substance—despite its name—contains no actual cocaine but a dangerous mix of drugs such as Ketamine, MDMA, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, according to the DEA.
The victims, three men and one woman aged 25 to 60, were all from the south end of the parish.
Authorities warn that the current batch circulating locally is proving to be highly lethal and urge the public to avoid and report any encounters with the drug.
TPSO also reminds the community of its Operation Angel program, which offers free, judgment-free addiction treatment for those seeking help. For assistance, individuals can visit any TPSO office or call 985-747-9696.
