Yesterday, shortly before 12:30 p.m., Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 38 near LA Hwy 441 in St. Helena Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 80 YO Billy Hebert of Greensburg.
The crash occurred as a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Hebert, was westbound on LA Hwy 38. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Hebert was not properly restrained and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was obtained from Hebert for analysis.
