
Detectives with the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit located and arrested a man wanted for murder out of St. John Parish Thursday night.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., detectives with the St. Tammany Narcotics Division were contacted by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office in reference to a wanted subject who was believed to be traveling via bus through the Slidell area.
Detectives in St. John had obtained information that Jonathan Williams, who was wanted in connection with a second-degree murder that occurred in St. John Parish, was traveling on a bus attempting to flee Louisiana.
At approximately 10 p.m. Friday, St. Tammany detectives located the bus on I-10 near the Fremaux Avenue exit and conducted a traffic stop. They located Williams, and he was taken into custody without incident.
The bus and its other passengers were then released from the scene.
Williams was found to be in possession of a rifle, several live rounds of ammunition and a ski mask. The rifle was confirmed to be stolen out of Ascension Parish. Jonathan Williams was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for Possession of a Stolen Firearm and as a fugitive from St. John Parish.
