Sunday afternoon, shortly after 1:15 p.m., Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle on LA Hwy 450 near Sunny Hill Road in Washington Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 41 YO Anthony Simmons of Osyka.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Simmons was southbound on LA Hwy 450 driving a 2011 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley-Davidson traveled off the roadway to the right. After leaving the roadway, the Harley-Davidson struck a culvert and tree.
Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Simmons sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Simmons for analysis.
