On January 26, 2022, at approximately 9:40 pm, the Hammond Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash that occurred in the 400 block of Morris Road (LA 443).
The crash claimed the life of 38 YO Damon Daniels of Hammond.
Upon arrival, HPD Officers located a Chevrolet Trailblazer on the side of the roadway that appeared to have overturned.
Daniels, the only occupant, was extricated from the vehicle by the Hammond Fire Department.
The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead on the scene.
The investigation revealed that Daniels left the roadway prior to the crash and was unrestrained.
As in all major accidents, a sample was submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab to determine if impairment was involved.
