Yesterday the Louisiana Department of Health reported 5,550 new #COVID19 cases.
The vast majority (97.8%) of these cases were tied to COVID spreading in communities, rather than congregate settings like nursing homes.
3,013 individuals were hospitalized with COVID across Louisiana, just short of yesterday’s record of 3,022.
Since July 1, the state has had just three days where the difference from the day before was negative, indicating the record was the previous day.
This update represented increases across all regions and age groups.
58 new COVID deaths were reported yesterday.
Governor John Bel Edwards will hold his weekly COVID media briefing today at 1:30 p.m. The update will be streamed live on the Governor’s Facebook page.
