On January 10, just after 9:00 AM, multiple reports of a vehicle headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 12 were received by 911. Troop L Troopers responded to the area and located witnesses that provided a partial license plate for a Nissan 350-Z. The Nissan forced several vehicles off of the roadway causing one crash. Troopers later located the Nissan and identified the driver as 23-year-old Alex McLaughin. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 1st offense, Hit-and-Run, and Driving the Wrong Way on a Divided Highway.
