On Friday Covington Police responded to reports of gunfire in 900 block of N. Filmore Street, at around 4:45 PM. Upon officer’s arrival, two gunshot victims were discovered. Officers quickly began rendering aid to the two gunshot victims until medical personnel arrived on scene to transport them to local hospitals for treatment. A description and possible identity of the shooter was quickly discovered after speaking with several witnesses in the area. With the help of the St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office (STPSO), who was on their way to assist the CPD, Deputies were able to intercept a subject fleeing the area that matched the description of the shooter. Deputies with STPSO quickly detained the suspect, identified as Keontez McGee of Covington. McGee will be charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Possession of Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, and more. The two victims were in stable condition as of this weekend, and expected to survive.
