On December 11, Hammond Police responded to Apple Street and made contact with a male victim who was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. Aid was rendered to the victim by officers and the Hammond Fire Department. The victim was transported to North Oaks Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.
Through their investigation HPD detectives were able to identify several suspects involved. On December 11, a male juvenile was arrested for Principal to Attempted Murder and was transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center. Davonte Hayes, 18 years old of Hammond, was arrested for Attempted Murder and Obstruction of Justice. On December 12, Jada Cloy, 18 years old of Hammond, was arrested by the HPD Street Crimes Unit and charged with Principal to Attempted Murder. HPD obtained warrants and was looking for De’Asia Hayes, 24 years old of Hammond, for Principal to Attempted Murder and Obstruction of Justice, and on a second juvenile male for Principal to Attempted Murder.
