For Tangipahoa Parish the parish’s one-cent sales tax for roads and bridges was renewed for four more years, winning the approval of 62 percent of the voters with turnout at 14 percent.
7th Ward Marshal Pat Farris was re-elected for a second six-year term in a close run-off election. Farris and his opponent, retired Hammond Police Officer Bert Deliberto, bounced back and forth for the lead all night. Farris won the race with 201 more votes than Deliberto. Turnout is estimated at just 18 percent across the 7th Ward area which includes the city limits of Hammond and Ponchatoula, as well as Pumpkin Center and Baptist. Farris will be sworn in for his second term in January 2021. He serves alongside 7th Ward Judge Grace Gasaway, who was re-elected in November to her fifth term in the office.
