The elderly woman killed Monday when a golf cart she was riding in overturned near Abita Springs has been identified as Valentina Briyukova.
Briyukova, an Abita Springs residents, was 85. Her family called the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office at 9 p.m. Tuesday to say the cart had crashed near Abita Springs. She was pronounced dead on the scene. According to the St Tammany Coroner’s Office her neck had been pinned beneath the cart’s roll bar.
The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
