
Gov. John Bel Edwards has issued a state of emergency with more severe weather expected to impact Louisiana for the remainder of the week.
The National Weather Service says there is the potential for flash flooding through Friday across much of south Louisiana. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph are possible along with the potential for large hail.
Much of the state has already been through dangerous weather for the past week.
A state of emergency authorizes the use of state resources to aid in storm response efforts. The state has received requests from parishes for items such as tarps and water pumps, plus it is prepared to support ongoing search and rescue efforts in the Gulf of Mexico for crew members of a lift boat that Tuesday during an unexpected squall south of Port Fourchon.
