Around 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Slidell Police responded to a report of a stabbing in progress. Upon arrival, officers encountered the alleged suspect. Shots were fired, resulting in the killing of the alleged suspect. At least two people were stabbed prior to the officers’ arrival. No officers were injured during the encounter.
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations, as requested by the Slidell Police Department, said the incident involved an Officer with the Slidell Police Department and a Deputy with the St. Tammany Sherriff’s Office. They said officers, responding to a 911 call at a gas station on Airport Road near I-12 in Slidell, encountered a male suspect in the parking lot armed with two bladed instruments. During the encounter, officers discharged their duty weapons striking the suspect. The suspect sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the incident scene.
The Louisiana State Police is handling the officer involved shooting investigation.
