
On March 15 at approximately 9:21 p.m., a 13 YO passenger of a sport utility vehicle was struck by gunfire as the SUV traveled east bound on I-12 toward Hammond.
The driver of the SUV advised TPSO Detectives that an unknown make vehicle, drove along their vehicle near the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development motorcade scales on I-12 between Pumpkin Center Road and Happywoods Road. The driver advised that without warning, someone from within the suspect vehicle shot at them twice, hitting the 13 YO passenger in the neck and upper right thigh. The driver stopped momentarily before transporting the wounded teenager to North Oaks Medical Center for advanced medical treatment.
Due to the inclement weather at the time of the incident, investigators recovered limited evidence and are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect vehicle and perpetrator(s).
