City of Hammond recycling in 2024 will take place on the first and third Saturday of each month between 8 am and noon.
Reminders: Break down cardboard boxes, no Styrofoam, no plastic grocery bags, no glass, no soiled materials example pizza boxes.
Recyclables Accepted: Aluminum/Tin cans: Clean, rinsed of all food/drink residue; Paper: Clean, unsoiled newspaper, magazines, catalogs, gift wrap, paper bags, junk mail, White or colored paper, envelopes. No bound books, paper bound/wrapped in plastic, Rubber bands, or photos; Cardboard: Clean toilet paper/towel rolls, egg cartons, cereal/food boxes, packing materials, shipping boxes. Break down or flatten boxes as much as possible; Plastics: Clean, rinsed of all residue and caps removed; NO glass, plastic bags or grocery bags, hangers, Styrofoam, napkins, food wrappers, no garbage, trash or soiled items, food/pizza boxes with grease/residue, waxed/coated materials, plastic straws/forks/spoons, scrap metal, batteries, electronics, clothes.
