In Tangipahoa Parish all 10 councilmen and Parish President Robby Miller took their oaths of office for four-year terms.
The event was held at the Florida Parishes Event Center on Monday afternoon.
Miller, after reciting his oath, took time to thank the parish employees who, he said, made the officials being sworn in look good.
Earlier in the day Miller announced that all parish offices will close at noon on Monday in anticipation of severe weather forecast through the overnight hours.
