
Saturday afternoon, shortly before 3:15 p.m., Troopers from State Police Troop L began investigating a three vehicle crash on I-12 near LA Hwy 1077.
The crash claimed the life of 37 YO Silver Angel of St. Petersburg, Florida.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2007 Jeep Liberty was westbound on I-12 in the right lane. At the same time, a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Angel, was westbound on I-12 in the left lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep traveled into the left lane and impacted the Volkswagen.
After initial impact, the Volkswagen traveled out of the travel lanes and impacted a 2023 International 18-wheeler parked on the right shoulder. The Jeep traveled off the roadway to the left and impacted the cable barrier.
Despite being properly restrained, Angel sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Angel was pronounced deceased on the scene. The drivers of the Jeep and the International were properly restrained and both were uninjured.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from all drivers involved for analysis.
Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
