Mayor Latoya Cantrell has denied having an affair with NOPD Officer Jeffrey Vappie, even after the divorce filing says Vappie admitted to having an affair with the mayor to his wife.
The Times-Picayune, in an article they posted online, included a text message exchange between the mayor and reporter Joseph Cranney. There have been previous press reports showing the mayor and her now-former security protection officer spent hours during the workday and even in to the night alone in the city’s upper Pontalba Apartment. In November, Vappie’s wife filed for divorce. Then on Jan. 17, NOLA press outlets reported on a recently filed amended divorce petition alleging an affair between the officer and Mrs. L.C. Sources said Mrs. L.C. was Mayor Latoya Cantrell.
