St. Tammany State Representative Richard Nelson announced he will be running for Governor.
The 36 YO state representative was first elected to office in 2019.
An attorney and engineer from Mandeville, he says that Louisiana has everything going for it, but is held back by leaders who are stuck in the past.
One of the things Nelson says he would do as Governor would be to end income taxes in the state. He said repealing income taxes would be a way to compete with Texas, Florida and Tennessee and would keep tax dollars in local communities across the state versus concentrating power and money in Baton Rouge.
Nelson joins a crowded Republican pool of candidates that could include Attorney General Jeff Landry, State Senator Sharon Hewitt, and State Treasurer John Schroder.
