Traffic has been a lagging problem for Baton Rouge.
To fix it, DOTD has proposed many projects to keep drivers moving.
Now DOTD says inflation may slow an already lengthy process. At the Capitol yesterday, DOTD told lawmakers construction costs have increased around 88 percent from inflation, citing concrete, steel, labor, and fuel costs.
State Representative Richard Nelson of Mandeville said there is no real way to know if these steep prices will go down at some point, or if they will stay the same.
Because of that uncertainty, DOTD says some of the projects that would hopefully ease the gridlock on the city’s roads may have to be pushed back.
