For the last two years, Chief Randy Fandal was proud to lead the charge for Breast Cancer Awareness by wrapping a police car in pink to raise money for the Slidell Memorial Cancer Center.
Although pink in the universal color to promote awareness for breast cancer, this goal of this project is to truly raise awareness and money for ALL cancers.
This year, Slidell Police is proud to again partner with St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 with this endeavor. As an added bonus, and paid for by our very own Slidell Police officers, our police badge and patch have been turned pink for the month of October.
Starting Saturday, the pink police car will hit the streets of Slidell throughout the month of October. For a suggested minimum donation of $5, citizens will have the opportunity to sign the car with their name, the name of someone battling cancer, a cancer survivor, or in memory of a loved one. A locked box will be available for cash or check donations or as a newly added feature, can scan the QR code on one of the windows to donate.
All proceeds will go to Slidell Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.
The non-profit organization, Friends of Slidell Police Foundation, covered the full cost of the materials used for this project. Tommy St. Clair of GotchaDecals.com / Tommy St.Clair Designs designed the artwork and donated his time and labor for this project.
The police car will make appearances at different businesses and locations around the Slidell area.
