Once again, the $125 million project to build flyover ramps for a direct connection between I-10 and Armstrong International Airport in Kenner is facing a delay.
DOTD says the flyovers could be open by summer 2023, weather permitting. That is a change from their previous estimate that had completion at early 2023.
In addition to that, DOTD says the opening of the new diamond interchange on Loyola Drive, beneath the I-10 overpass in Kenner, will be postponed until after the flyovers are complete.
The $1.3 billion terminal at Armstrong International was opened in November 2019 and the flyovers were supposed to be finished by November 2022. Hurricane Ida and supply chain issues wrecked those plans.
