Hammond Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire off Lowes Lane yesterday.
Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire showing from a single-story residence.
Firefighters began the fire attack and started a search.
Firefighter located a victim inside the structure.
The victim was removed by firefighters and they immediately began resuscitation efforts along with Acadian ambulance.
The victim was transported to North Oaks Medical Center.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
