On February 3, the Hammond Police Department responded to a shooting on Pecan Street at the railroad tracks.
Upon arrival, HPD officers found an innocent bystander was struck by stray bullets in the leg and arm. The victim is reported to be in stable condition.
HPD Detectives spoke with a witness who stated she was stopped at the tracks due to the crossing gates being down. She saw two black males exit a silver Toyota Corolla and begin shooting eastward towards a set of apartments. Then she saw the Corolla speed through the Nash’s Express parking lot.
HPD Detectives were able to locate video of the suspects’ vehicle. The Corolla traveled north on Pecan, turned into the parking lot of Nash’s, traveled in between the pumps and the building, then exited the parking lot onto Blackburn, and proceeded eastward.
