Yesterday LDH announced 2,205 new COVID19 cases, a daily jump in new cases not seen since September.
The vast majority were tied to community spread.
81% of Louisiana parishes are now at “substantial” or “high” risk of COVID spreading in their communities.
272 individuals were hospitalized with COVID across Louisiana.
The cases included all age groups, though the majority were among younger age groups — 21% of cases were among children ages 17 and younger, 23% were among ages 18-29, and 20% were among ages 30-39.
New cases were coming out of all regions, with the largest shares from Region 1 (New Orleans, 36%) and Region 7 (Northwest, 13%).
9 COVID deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 14,945.
LDH said the COVID-19 vaccine protects against severe outcomes from COVID, including hospitalization and death. Due to the rise of Omicron, getting your booster shot has never been more urgent.
