Yesterday New Orleans took steps to bring in outside help to aid its overwhelmed trash haulers, as complaints about rotting garbage continued.
Mayor Cantrell’s communications director, Beau Tidwell, said Tuesday that multiple firms submitted bids before a Monday night deadline for two emergency garbage contracts.
As of Tuesday afternoon, those bidders were still waiting to hear who would get to send a minimum of 20 trucks per day to haul away the rotten food and household waste that’s been abandoned on city streets for the two weeks since Hurricane Ida’s landfall.
