A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Slidell man after he forced entry into a residence and assaulted one of the homeowners.
Monday (March 31) evening, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 42000 block of U.S. Highway 190 East in reference to a disturbance. STPSO Major Crimes detectives, who were called to the residence to investigate, learned that Tyrone Mercadel (DOB 7/23/1972) of Slidell had kicked in the door of the home and physically assaulted the female homeowner. An altercation ensued as the two homeowners attempted to get Mercadel to exit the home and the female homeowner fired two rounds in self-defense, one of which struck Mercadel in the leg. Mercadel fled the residence, but not before the male homeowner, Wayne Mercadal (DOB 12/12/1971) shot at the tires of his vehicle in an attempt to stop him from leaving while law enforcement was enroute.
Detectives located Tyrone Mercadel nearby, and he was transported via emergency medical personnel to an area hospital. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and upon his release from the hospital, Tyrone Mercadel will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for one count of Aggravated Burglary.
Wayne Mercadal was taken into custody and booked Monday night into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. The incident was not random, and Mercadel was known to the homeowners.
