The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will begin work on the US 51 overlay project between Amite and Independence.
Intermittent traffic delays are possible as work progresses.
This project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
This is an alternating lane closure on US 51 Northbound and Southbound from Wednesday, April 02, 2025 at 7:00 AM until Friday, September 26, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
The following are suggested alternative routes to avoid the work zone: Motorists traveling US 51 north may take Hwy 40 West to I-55north, then LA 16 east to re-intersect US 51. Motorists traveling US 51 South may take LA 16 west to I-55 South, then Hwy 40 east to re-intersect US 51. Wide loads are restricted to 12 feet. Emergency vehicles will have access. Motorists may encounter delays.
