
A strong line of storms moved into Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi late Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning.
These storms brought damaging straight-line winds to the Northshore and a confirmed Ef-1 tornado in Washington Parish. According to the National Weather Service, the EF-1 tornado happened just before 12:30 AM with estimated peak winds of 100 mph.
The tornado touched down around 12:27 a.m. near Lon Miley Road snapping trees as it raced off to the northeast. As it crossed LA Highway 21, which is just south of Varnado, it intensified and caused more tree damage in its 4.46-mile path length.
At around 12:34 a.m., the tornado came to an end about 2 miles east-southeast of Varnado.
