The St. Tammany Parish Council passed the 2025 amended operating and capital budgets, crafted with the cooperation of President Mike Cooper, headlined by support for critical road, drainage and other infrastructure, public safety agencies and other vital community services.
President Mike Cooper said the community has spoken, and they listened. He said the budget was reflective of citizens’ values of fiscal responsibility and support of critical needs, and he thanked Parish Council members for their hard work.
The budget was unanimously adopted 14-0 by the Council at its December 5th monthly meeting. With nine new Council members, the 2025 budget process was very different than past efforts.
In addition to more than $10 million in road improvements and drainage enhancements in the 14 Council districts, some of the planned parishwide initiatives are roadway improvements along Lakeview Drive, Slidell; Lowe Davis Road, Covington; Perrilloux Road, Madisonville; Pinnacle Parkway, Covington; Woodridge Boulevard, Mandeville; and a Fish Hatchery Road Bridge Replacement, Lacombe. Drainage projects include Cross Gates Subdivision, Slidell; Bayou Vista Subdivision, Lacombe; LA 59 Area in Mandeville; and LA 1085/LA 1077 Ponds, Covington & Madisonville.
The operating & capital budgets were subject to several public hearings, prior to adoption.
