The investigation into the recent double shooting in Hammond that resulted in one death and one hospitalized has been closed with an arrest.
28 YO Brandon Watson was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Tuesday, December 3, on one count each of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice.
Just before 6 a.m. on Friday, November 15, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) was called to a home on Robinson Road in unincorporated Hammond for a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find 25 YO Jonathan Watson dead from a gunshot wound and a 55 YO man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was hospitalized and is expected to survive.
Deputies learned Jonathan and his brother Brandon got into an argument in front of their mother’s home. The 55 YO exited the home in an attempt to intervene and went back inside the home with Brandon. Jonathan then got a gun out of his car and entered the home. A shootout ensued between Jonathan and the 55 YO resulting in Jonathan being shot dead and the 55 YO being shot multiple times.
Through this investigation, video evidence was uncovered showing Brandon was also involved in the shootout, having fired at the 55 YO survivor following the 55 YO’s shooting at Jonathan, but lied to detectives about his involvement.
No charges are expected against the survivor.
