A Tangipahoa Parish man was arrested over the weekend after robbing a Covington-area cellphone store at gunpoint.
At approximately 8 p.m. Saturday (September 21) St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a cellphone store on Highway 190 near Covington in reference to an armed robbery which had just occurred. Employees reported a man, armed with a handgun, walked into the store wearing dark clothing, a mask and gloves and demanded employees give him cellphones and cash before fleeing the area.
Through their investigation, detectives with the STPSO Major Crimes Unit obtained information that the man possibly resided in Tickfaw. Working together with their counterparts with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, STPSO Major Crimes detectives identified the subject as Howard Julian (DOB 6-4-77) and obtained a search warrant for his residence in Tickfaw, where they located the items taken during the armed robbery.
Julian was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail as a fugitive from St. Tammany Parish and for Possession of Stolen Property. Upon being transported to St. Tammany, he will be booked for one count of Armed Robbery.
