
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana will receive $206 million in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Flood Mitigation Assistance program, the second most of any other state.
The funding from Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) supports 31 projects to elevate flood-prone homes to reduce future damage and minimize flood insurance claims in Louisiana. Dr. Cassidy said by having a seat at the table, Louisiana is punching far above its weight in the amount of money received to eliminate the risk of flooding.
Livingston Parish got $11,899,733 for elevations. St Tammany received $4,997,088 for elevations. The City of Mandeville Elevation Grant – Lake Shore Drive was awarded $2,456,972. $2,402,162 went to Tangipahoa Parish Resilient Elevations of Flood-prone Properties. $2,369,827 went to the City of Slidell Residential Elevations.
