A Slidell man was charged with eleven (11) counts of Video Voyeurism for placing a hidden camera inside a guest bathroom at his home.
In late May, the Slidell Police Department began investigating, 31 YO Jonathan Bethancourt after a babysitter located a hidden camera (disguised in a smoke detector) inside a bathroom in Bethancourt’s home. The victim took possession of the hidden camera and brought it to the Slidell Police Department.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Bethancourt’s home and located an additional hidden camera, as well as other incriminating evidence.
The investigation is still on-going and additional charges are expected, as investigators are still combing through substantial amounts of video evidence and have identified additional victims. At this point in the investigation, the evidence indicates that Bethancourt had cameras located at his home in Slidell, and at a condominium in Orange Beach, Alabama. There is no indication that Bethancourt placed cameras in other locations.
Bethancourt was booked into the Slidell City Jail on May 29th, and was later transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail, where he has since posted bond.
Slidell Police are working closely with federal and Alabama authorities, due to the investigation crossing state lines.
