The next phase of Tangipahoa’s shoreline protection project is now under construction.
Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller is pleased to announce that Rigid Constructors has been awarded the contract to construct another 1.25 miles of rock jetty infrastructure near Pass Manchac. This project will also begin the process of extending the rock jetty approximately 0.8 miles north of the Tangipahoa River toward the Tangipahoa/St. Tammany Parish line.
In all, the $13.5 million project is expected to take between five and six months to complete, weather permitting.
Miller said crews and equipment are on site and work is beginning now. Miller said they are asking boaters to please exercise caution while traveling in this area, noting that signs are posted to let boaters know where they cannot enter the work zone.
Tangipahoa’s rock jetty project has been made possible in part through grants awarded by the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority along with two other funding sources.
