Louisiana State Police investigators continue the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in East Feliciana Parish on April 4, 2024.
The incident claimed the life of 37 YO Jonathan N. Johnson of Jackson.
The initial investigation revealed that shortly after 9:00 p.m. on April 4, 2024, East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office (EFPSO) deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in Jackson. Deputies were notified that Johnson was in possession of a firearm. When deputies arrived, Johnson fled into a nearby wooded area.
EFPSO requested K-9 tracking assistance from Dixon Correctional Institute (DCI), who responded to the scene.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., DCI officers located Johnson and instructed him to surrender. Johnson discharged one round from a firearm, prompting DCI officers to return fire in Johnson’s direction.
Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other individuals were harmed during this incident.
The LSP Crime Lab assisted in processing the scene.
This is an active investigation. An autopsy will be performed, and further information will be released when it becomes available.
