The Safe Path to School Taskforce is excited to have many of the Northshore’s area high schools join them in the 2nd Annual Safe Path to School Awareness Day.
This task force was formed in the wake of Emma Savoie’s untimely death.
They are asking everyone to wear yellow on Wednesday 2/7/2024.
Amy talks about their Safe Path to School Awareness Day
Their mission is to bring awareness of child safety within the footprints of campus and going to and from school. They want to make an impact on the infrastructure of school parking lots, streets, school zones, and overlapping activities/processes as children move throughout the school areas to make this world a safer place.
The initial outreach of the task force began with elementary and middle school in Slidell in the Fall of 2022.
Brent talks about that tragic day.
The work continues, with future hope that government grants can be established with State Representatives, the Director of the Highway Safety Coalition, and the St. Tammany Regional Coordinator for the LA Safety Coalition.
The entire conversation with Brent, Amy and Dr. Pizza.
The task force says all of this would not be possible without the hard work and advocacy of Dr. Andrew Pizza, SMH Medical Director.
