St Tammany Library says Dr. Bruce Craft, a faculty member at Southeastern Louisiana University and editor of Louisiana Folklore Miscellany, will lead a new lecture series, “Exploring Folklore and Folklife in Louisiana.”
Participants will explore Louisiana’s unique folklore and folklife to understand how Louisiana’s folk narrative developed.
All programs in this series are from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
They will be: Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Madisonville Branch; Tuesday, March 5 at the South Slidell Branch; Tuesday, April 2 at the Causeway Branch; and Tuesday, May 7 at the Madisonville Branch.
The first program will introduce participants to folklore and folklife as areas of study with diverse examples ranging from the mythical Rougaroo to the Cajun traiteur. Subsequent programs and areas of specific exploration will be based on participant interest.
These events are free and open to the public.
