Saturday morning at approximately 3:00 AM, WPSO dispatch received two urgent calls.
The first call was in reference to a previously occurred illegal use of a firearm, and the second was a report of an ongoing residential burglary approximately 2 miles east of the first incident’s location. Both complainants provided descriptions of the same vehicle, a silver Ford F250.
During the residential burglary call, which was actively monitored by dispatch, the suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area. Law enforcement units, including Lieutenant Harris, were promptly informed. Lt. Harris attempted a traffic stop on the highway, but the suspect vehicle fled, initiating a high-speed pursuit on Highway 10.
The chase extended into Tangipahoa Parish, engaging multiple law enforcement agencies, including Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) and Troop L. Kentwood Police Department (PD) later identified the vehicle as matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen in their jurisdiction. Louisiana State Police (LSP) successfully deployed spike strips at the intersection of Highway 10 and E. Russell Town Road, yet the pursuit continued northbound on Highway 51.
The pursuit eventually came to an end in Tangipahoa when the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Despite efforts, the suspects evaded capture.
The investigation, vehicle recovery, and search for the suspects were turned over to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and Kentwood Police Department.
