Daniel Laborde of Hammond has been elected President of the board of directors for the Tangipahoa Parish Economic Development Foundation for the 2023-24 term.
Laborde chairs the 13-member board who lend their support to Tangipahoa’s economic development efforts.
Sandy Summers was selected as Vice President of the Board while Kristin Braud will serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the organization. Immediate Past President Ben Dutruch continues to serve in an ex-officio role with the board.
The board recently welcomed Beezie Landry as their newest member of the board. He joins veteran board members Fritz Anderson, Parish President Robby Miller, Dev Patel, Rhonda Sheridan, Jessica Smith, School Superintendent Melissa Stilley, Heather Tassin, and David Vial.
3rd Ward Justice of the Peace Tonya Mabry administered the oath of office to the Board during a gathering this week at Oak Knoll Country Club. During that meeting, the Board recognized Oak Knoll Country Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The board also offered thanks to outgoing board member Malcolm Fitzhugh, who dedicated many years of service to the TEDF board.
“Endless Opportunities, Expanded Connectivity” was the theme of this year’s annual meeting. Parish President Miller offered a brief update on the “middle-mile” dark fiber loop around the parish, construction of which began earlier this month. The group also heard an update on the broadband industry from representatives of REV Business, who sponsored this year’s annual meeting.
