
Three men from Florida were arrested and face charges in what authorities described as a multi-jurisdictional vehicle burglary ring that hit Hammond this past week.
HPD Chief of Police Edwin Bergeron said the suspects were apprehended after taking police on a 15 minute high speed chase that crossed city and parish lines, bringing together law enforcement agencies from across the region. The pursuit began after their car was spotted on South Morrison Boulevard Thursday afternoon.
34 YO Jarr’e Moore of North Lauderdale, 32 YO Alton Burris, Jr., of Fort Lauderdale, and 30 YO Tavarius Oliphant are facing six counts of simple burglary, six counts of flight from an officer, 2 counts of being fugitives from another jurisdiction, 2 counts of illegal carrying of a weapon, 2 counts of felony possession of marijuana, and 2 counts of aggravated flight from an officer.
The three were processed into the Hammond Police Department jail and are still under investigation for a series of additional burglaries across the region.
