Parish President Mike Cooper said now the westbound lanes of I-12 from U.S. 190 to LA 21, including the Tchefuncte River bridge, are now open, that he has confirmed that all of the eastbound lanes will open in the coming days as well.
He said it is important to note that the project is not finished, as contractors will put down another layer of asphalt and re-stripe the roadway. Some closures can be expected, but only at night, according to DOTD officials.
Cooper asked for everyone to please travel safely through this ongoing construction zone, especially over this Easter holiday weekend. He said this section of I-12 is expected to be fully complete this Summer.
