From our weather partners at WDSU: Severe weather is possible on Wednesday.
The risk of severe weather comes in two rounds.
The first round is in the morning hours. This risk isn’t as significant as the threat that arrives this afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms could develop ahead of a main cluster of storms in central Louisiana and Mississippi. If a storm does form, heavy rain, strong winds over 58 mph, hail 1″ in size or larger, and an isolated tornado are all possible. Remember, it’s a small chance these storms fire up so most people in SE Louisiana will stay dry this morning.
The more significant threat of severe weather arrives this afternoon. A line of strong storms is approaching from the northwest, and it will slowly move across our area later in the afternoon and early evening. With its slow movement, it will bring a risk of flooding. This line of storms will also bring a threat of tornadoes, damaging winds, and hail. The area is under a level 3 (enhanced) risk out of 5 for severe storms.
