The Christ Episcopal School (CES) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment John M. Murray, Ph.D., as the next head of school, effective July 1, 2023.
Dr. Murray was selected from a strong and diverse pool of candidates following a comprehensive national search.
He comes to CES from Franklin Road Academy (FRA) in Nashville, where he has served as dean of academic affairs since 2012. Dr. Murray’s academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in education from The University of Virginia, a master’s degree in private school education from Columbia University, and most recently a Doctor of Education degree from Auburn University, where he was the Clark National Graduate School Scholar Winner in 2010. His career in education spans 30 years at independent schools in Massachusetts, Alabama, Ohio, and Tennessee.
Dr. Murray will succeed John Morvant, who, after 13 years of service at CES, will retire at the conclusion of this school year.
